Here are a few more shot with the new 105! Seriously lusting over this lens. It is my personal favourite for versatile portraits. Plus, just look at that rendering!

Nikons 105 and 85 may look the same, but that Tamron's colors suck big time.
Hmmm, well the colors can be fixed in post.
Yes the 85 and 105 look very similar indeed. However the D5 is not a high resolution camera therefore all lenses look sharp on it. The D810 would've been a great choice for this test as its high resolution would expose any flaws, if any were present.
I just wonder how it will compare to the bokeh of my Zeiss Milvus 85mm f/1.4? Hopefully in a few days I'll find out...

I find it funny that those with an 85 want a 105. The lenses are definitely similar. It is more to pair with the 58, not the 85.
Those would be my EXACT words, but you beat me to it.
That video actually made me even more excited about the 105mm. I can't wait to get it!
I can now finally see this lens with a hood attached... man it looks good! It will pair with mt 58G so well...

It's here now. Couple first shots from backyard.
I think that this one focuses little faster than any other 1.4 or 1.8g.
Shoot some more->
Awesome!! This lens is definitely a mini chubmeister, especially judging by the last shot!

Did you have to do any AF fine-tuning on this lens? Just wondering how accurate it is. Somewhat difficult to tell from your samples but I'm just wondering if fine-tuning is going to be needed. I would have to shoot an image with live view and then check it with auto focus. From my past experience, most Nikon lenses do need some sort of AF fine-tuning.
I was informed that B&H will not have these lenses today or tomorrow. They expect them on 8/31.
To quote my contact at B&H, who is well known here on the forum as an ambassador for B&H. "As far as I know Nikon won’t begin shipping them to retailers until 8/26. We close mid-afternoon on Fridays so it is possible we won’t be able to offload the shipment, inventory and catalog them until Monday.
What I do know is we will get ours among the very first batch Nikon USA ships and we will fill existing backorders, oldest first, in the order we received them."
On the adorama site: "Manufacturer will start shipping this item on 08/26/2016. Orders will be filled on a first come first serve basis. We do not charge your card until we actually ship the item to you." Then I spoke with a rep who confirmed, "Nikon will begin shipping the lenses on 8/26, so we will receive them next week".
Bestbuy's site says they will begin to ship their stock on 8/31

I was expecting the lens on Friday or Saturday, so I'm bummed.
First world problems, I know.
I assumed that Nikon would preship the goods to their A+ dealers. So that THEY could release them on 8/26. Not Nikon will release them on 8/26.

Beautiful first shots! Besides the cute subject, I really like the completely blurred background on #2 and #3 and the slightly swirly bokeh on #4! Looks very promising and a true bro to the 58G.
Maybe that guy who shot the video should've used something else but a building for his backgrounds...
Good recent pictures !
The youtube video talks sense to me though ( I have the 85mm 1.4G and 105 DC ); so unless one of mine starts acting up or I need to have only 1 lens in that range I'll be enjoying from the sidelines.
