Even though we're all waiting for the shipment of this lens, I decided to start an image thread dedicated for Nikon 105mm f/1.4E ED.
I can assure you that along with Hardcore and DJ R, I will be very active on here
Here are the sample images from Nikon to start off with.
I just returned from NPS to hand in my chubby loaner. The rep told me they just received a 105/1.4 and he asked me if I would like to try it. It was an IPS - Initial Preproduction Sample. I tried it on a D810 but was not allowed to put the images on a card.
I played with it for 5-10 minutes. It's a big piece of glass but it handled pretty easy. As already said before the rendering is alike the 58G; just beautiful. Now I really WANT to have it.
BTW, when the production version arrives this lens will go back to Japan and it will be destroyed. No way to get that one for a nice price.
For the purists; the lens is made in China.
Only lenses with a manufacturing price above about €2000,00 are made in Japan, all others in Thailand or China.

I have one question for you and I hope you have an answer: How fast was the AF speed?
Yeah we need more pics. My fave they posted so far was a more full length environmental portrait in a city scape but nothing good enough to make me spend anything near what they are asking.
Blazing fast AF, like with the 70-200 is nice but not always necessary - I've shot many sports with the Sigma 105mm OS macro which is not a fast lens to focus by any stretch of the imagination, but it's still sufficient for the vast majority of shots. Especially since the lens rarely has to focus through the whole focal range - generally the focus only changes by a few feet between shots. Still, faster AF certainly never hurts.
