The 200 1.8 was my favorite Canon lens! Does it work with a TC?
Today I finally tested the 200/1.8L with the Canon 1.4x extender. AF is surprisingly faster than the Kenko. I'm very happy with the performance. It focused almost instantly. If the image is completely defocused, it takes longer but I can live with that.
At 280 f/2.5, the image is already great in the center. Really f/2.8 is all it needs for outstanding performance with the TC.
Just got used Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Lens (NOT OS, NOT S version)
I believe this is the first version.
Focusing very very fast. Almost no hunting.
Even at 300mm.
Test on static objects only.
Sony A7RII (3.10) + Sigma MC-11 (1.01)
As soon as I have something interesting to shoot will post examples.
P.S. No need to go to the fitness at all with such possession...
Several months ago I tested my first MC-11 with several 7RM2s, FW versions 3.00 and 3.20, on a Sigma 24-105 EF mount. The MC-11 came with FW version 1.00 but I updated it to 1.01. I had updated the lens FW prior to receiving the MC-11.
I was pleased with how well it worked with FW version 3.00, with one exception, Eye AF would consistently miss by inches. There were more inconsistencies with FW version 3.20 on the 7RM2. So I decided to wait.
2 months later I acquired another MC-11 that shipped with FW 1.01, factory installed. I have been testing it with several 7RM2s(3.20) and a 6300, paired with a Sigma 150-600 Sports. Every AF mode and AF function works consistently. AF is fast and there is minimal hunting throughout the focal range, hunting is virtually nonexistent when AF speed priority is selected. Playing with AF focus and AF speed priority on both the camera and lens, AF speed priority seems to give more consistent AF accuracy as well.
I need a sturdier tripod for this lens.
Note: I tried the Zeiss 15 2.8 ZE. Focal length and aperture were communicated to the camera, though the was compatibility light was off.
I tested this lens, as well as numerous other Canon telephoto lenses, last Fall with several 7RM2s(FW 2.00) and about 6 different adapters, especially the MBlll and MBlV with FW versions .43-.47. which were by far the best, but gave very inconsistent results, with every lens I have tested.
This is not a recommendation, but just a report of some positive results.
It does show that the 7RM2 and 6300 can focus a 600mm lens.
I have always had good AF results with the MC-11 adapter on the Canon series 1 tele lenses, but not series 2. I wish I still had my Canon 200 1.8.
Hi everyone! after a long wait i could get my hands on one Sigma MC-11 so i had a quick a/b test with the Metabones IV (with last v0.49 FW)
Im using a Sony A7Rii and a Sigma 150-600 "C" , both with last firmware to date (v3.20 and 1.02 if i recall correctly )
at indoors with not so good lighting the Metabones failed a lot (even prefocusing didnt help) to focus from 300 to 600mm, the sigma didnt have this problem... that was i think the major difference
today outdoors with good sunlight i made a test and both seem to be similar but the metabones ocasionally hunted
again, this was a quick test, but, so far, with the Sigma 150-600 "C" i can say its equal or better than the metabones (and thats without considering the extra AF functions that now are avaible as the lens is detected as native)
this last thing brings me to a question to all, if im not correct, when using native lenses the AF system uses a combination of both PDAF and CDAF , so you cant choose one or another , but im getting the focus confirmation as a green square (which i thought it was only when using CDAF) and never the PDAF's green squares which i-ve seen in some videos using other Sigma lenses with the MC11 and A7R2 , one video with this lens showed the same behavior im getting, is this ok? i never had a sony lens on my A7R2 so i dont know if this its how it should be
im also using a Canon 70-300 L which worked great so far for one hour i used it (not detected as native so i could select PDAF manually)

I get the moving PDAF green squares in most Focus Area modes except, Center, Flexible Spot, and Lock On AF (green box around selected object), in AFC. In these modes I believe you are forcing the camera to focus only in the box.
Yes a bigger tripod helps with the Sports version.
hi
anyone here uses the original a7 mk1 with mc-11? does eye af work?
i have tried mc-11 canon ef to sony e mount adapter with 24, 50 art lenses. cannot get eye af to work. face recognition also cannot register faces. is it just me or it does not supposed to work?
other features work fine. camera 3.1 firmware, i updated the mc-11 to the latest firmware too.
thanks
Hi Guys,
Has anyone try the Sigma MC-11 with Canon 135mm F/2 L lens?
I search the forum and didn't find anything.
If you have experience please share you thought.
Thanks

Not with this adapter, but with the Metabones IV T the 135 f2L is very usable.

According to these nice folks, the EF 135/2L works fine with the MC-11.
The best performers are the EF 35/1.4L and EF 24-105L. I can confirm that the 200/1.8L's AF is also excellent with the MC-11.

for Sigma Art 35mm which adapter is better? MC-11 or metabones IV?
I do not have metabones, so I can not speak about it.
I have Sigma MC-11 (ver.1.01) with Sony A7R II (ver.3.10) and Sigma ART 35mm
No problems at all.
Focus speed is very fast. All modes working.

The last two images are great , Kalin!
Thank you very much.
I found some time today, got a beautiful model and went to the woods for a little fairytale project.
Sony A7RII + Sigma MC-11 + Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM
Focus wise - worked very good. Tried different modes and found AF-S with center to be best (PDAF).

Is that lens on the Sigma's list as compatible using the MC-11? It may work just fine but the full AF features as in native FE lens(es) is not enabled, I assume? Another greet image, I would say and yes, she is pretty .
