Don't be silly Herb, this camera is aimed at sports shooters, in case you didn't know. Canon will do everything they can to get the first batch in, just in time for the chess championship in New York later this year. Very considerately, they decided to increase DR for those photographers that - while caught in a hurry, forget to expose correctly so the chessboard black and white tones can be pulled 5 stops if needed.

Because of the expected arrival date being put back possibly. (June was a jokey guesstimate at the time of posting) I did think it might be put back by a week or so, but in the last few days the date has gone from late April, to end of May and now expected delivery to my dealer is now in AUGUST

Canon Canada told me a couple of days ago, end of April is the best case scenario. However there was a comment on proving you are going to olympics to get an early batch.Olympics is in August! (perhaps he meant people who have not already booked for the first few batches?)
Or does this mean, they are just keeping people interested with the early date? I paid a big deposit to book this, hoping to get it on April 1 as initially mentioned by my retailer.
I remember when 1DII was released in Australia, it was almost impossible to get one for 6 months unless you were a pro. Also working at Canon it took 6 months for the 1DX to appear on staff purchase, all units were given priority to the pros then public first
I already paid in full for two of them. Still, my dealer gave the first one they got to someone who preordered before me. I don't mind pros getting it first. Probably will find a bug to correct faster than amateurs.
