Canon EOS-1D X Mark II Features:
Meant to replace both the EOS-1D X and EOS-1D C
Max video frame rate: 4K @ 60fps, 120fps @ 1080p
Touch panel for AF point selection (We’re not sure if this means touchscreen or something else)
Much talked about new sensor technology
A “learning mode” for AI Servo (This wasn’t explained)
Completely new autofocus system
GPS built-in (no mention of Wifi)
New LCD screen type/technology
And this was the previous spec list with different type of info from Nov 24th....
Specifications:
24mp full frame Canon sensor
80+ AF Points
New processor technology
14+ stops of dynamic range
Nearly 15fps
4K video (max frame rate unknown)
Dual CFast
Slightly larger LCD
Touch panel for AF point selection....that worries me a little bit as then you run into the issues when using gloves. Granted most gloves I own work on touchscreen but they aren't always perfect. Then again the current nubby joystick isn't all that great either and often doesn't do what you intend it to do so hopefully if that info is true it will improve things.
Combining the 1DX and 1DC gives Canon the perfect excuse to move the 1D price back to 1Ds levels at $8000+. I think there is going to be a pretty active 1DX refurb/used market.

That is my biggest worry. But maybe Canon will be nice and keep it at 6800 or lower. Considering you can buy 4K cameras for a lot less.

IMO, most of this is window dressing. The 1Dx is already a great camera, the only thing it needs is a better sensor tech.
I think it needs more MPs as I crop too much....that is why 7D2 has become my most used camera.....the rest is still unknown as to how much benefit it will bring.
I have a gut feeling that a lot of that rumour won't come true. Seems to be just way to many new technologies all in one camera. Touchpad AF, AF learning, New high DR sensor....seems more like a dream list than anything that will be reality.

Makes sense from their standpoint though. There will always be people that will buy it no matter what the cost so why not take advantage of them.
I just hate to pay that kind of money for friggin 4k video. If the high ISO IQ is not much better then the 1DX I see no reason to upgrade. My photo plans for next year is looking more and more like dumping the 7D2 and getting a refurb 1DX.
I kind of doubt Canon will put new sensor tech in it. It just doesn't seem to be a priority for them. People have been griping about it for some time, but nothing changes much. I suspect it will improve on the 1Dx by 2/3 - 1 stop like every other iteration seems to do.
I think the 5ds/r has a little better dynamic range. I wonder if yet another new sensor will improve on that getting us closer to sony sensor dynamic range?

I hope my AI Servo is a fast learner
Canon will offer special new high tech gloves that operate touch screen perfectly. If you pre-order now they will only set you back $799.
