ok, after having the 20d for 2 weeks now, i just got another to charging one of my many aftermarket 511 batteries.
i had a 10d before and they charged just fine on the other charger. when i put the generic one on the charger, there is no charging light. it doesnt charge. the old oem canon 511 charges just fine.
I bought 2 generics a few days ago, 1 was ok, 1 didn't work/charge. The ebay seller replaced it with another one that worked. ask your seller for a refund or replacement.
My sterlingtek.com generic 511s that I bought last Oct work on the 20D body and charger no problem. Actually I haven't even used the supplied 511A other than when I did the firmware update.
I received 4 Stirlingtek generic 511s a few days ago and they appear to charge OK in the charger supplied with the 20D. I did notice they charged rather fast (went through the 1,2,3 flashes sequence) and took about another 30min or more to reach the same terminal voltage as the Canon BP-511As.
They work fine in the camera, although it's too early to know how many shots per charge I'll get.
I found that my 7.4v generics last longer than then 7.2v generics, even though the mAh of the 7.2v generic is higher (1500 vs 1300 mAh). Canon's original BP511 is 7.4V too.. However I don't have any scientific or statistical evidence to back this claim up. Anyone else observing the same pattern?
