It makes for a lot of Zeiss native lenses for the Sony E-mounts with the Loxia & Batis for FF and Touit for APS-C not to mentioned the pseudo Zeiss Sony lenses...

They must be doing fairly well from the FE system...

An 85mm f/1.8 with AF will do very nicely. Overall this is excellent news for the FE platform, but I wonder what this means for the Sony/Zeiss line and the "fast prime lens" that was promised on the roadmap (that many assumed would be an 85mm...)

That was a premium line for APS-C cameras, I think they were just priced too high. This time around I they have aimed at a better market segment (full frame cameras) where there are few AF prime options.

and now Zeiss Batis! with both two series "Zeiss" with AF, last one could/should be made by Cosina.
The Z* 25/2 had 11 elements in ten groups 600g so this one is similar but not identical. The lens should be shorter than the Z* with adapter.
