Nice sample of photo's with that new kit combo. Thanks for sharing as I'm leaning towards the purchase of the 7D MII to pair with my 100-400.
Perhaps you can clarify something for me. I notice for example in your last pic the focal length is 560mm with the extender. Considering the 7D MII has a crop factor of 1.6 is your field of view on that last picture really 896mm (560 * 1.6)? Thanks for your help as I look forward to viewing your work.
John, the actual measured focal length is 560 mm, give or take a tiny bit, but the field of view is roughly the same as it would be with an 896 mm lens on a full frame body such as the 5D3. So yes, in that respect, you're right.
And that is an advantage of the APS-C body, though pixel density is really the determining factor overall. If a full frame body had the same pixel density as the 7D II, one could simply crop its image to match the size of the 7D2 and produce the same image. At this time, there are no full frame bodies that enjoy the same pixel density as the 7D2.

The EXIF only shows the total focal length of the lens plus any TC, regardless of the body used.
Thanks for the great images, Imagemaster - particularly the hummingbird. It's given me confidence that selling my 7D and 100-400 was the right decision. Looking forward to trying out the 7D2, 100-400MKII now!

Great shots Tony!!
Somebody on POTN(80+ pages) said the 7D II was soft. Huh...
Thanks, Morley. Someone somewhere always says something like that.

Thanks & you're welcome Chris. Good luck with selling your present gear and getting the new combo.
