What's amazing is that the second shot has almost no color noise, which is the only kind that bothers me. If that is an accurate representation of the noise characteristics I would be extremely impressed.
Looks promising, but without RAWs these tell us very little about actual ISO performance. My local camera store has tested the D800 vs D810 side by side and claim the RAW ISO performance is roughly one stop better, which is realistic.
If you look at the ISO51200 shot in the bottom dark area you can see the reddish amp glow similar to the D610. Looks like it covers less of the image but it's still there, but perhaps it takes about another stop of ISO to appear (rough guess)?
Thanks for posting these, very cool. Even taking into account baked in NR, these shots look very good. 12800 is still a tad grainy for my tastes, but certainly useable. Better than ISO 3200 on my D5200, for sure.
If that 12800 is fairly representative, that means shooting at 6400 is going to be fantastic.
The improved Live View and better tracking/group AF are still the onlys thing really intruiging me to step up though, it's not like I'm unhappy with the 6400 images I get now. CDN price looks to be $3500, hopefully by Christmas it drops a little.
Can you take high iso samples in a dark environment with 250, 500 and 1000 shutters? Something that would be comparable to a kids and young adult dance recital.
However NPS requires a sponsor and a minimum of camera equipment already owned. CPS only requires a minimum of camera equipment already owned, so it is more accessible. Because NPS is not as accessible as CPS due to the sponsor requirement, they probably get fewer inductions.
In either case, it's a preaching to the choir kind of thing - you already own lots of their stuff already, so you're not someone who's about to jump ship after a trial, but rather you'll probably just stay with the same team for a while longer. It's a defensively-oriented program overall, different from an offensively-oriented program that would actively seek people not heavily invested in Nikon to try out the new stuff.
But what about any other image samples? Captive audience here...
Yeah, Nikon well understood that their current customers are their most profitable customers. The two shots that I posted are SOOC jpegs. All the rest are NEFs and at this time only Capture NX-D can convert them.
We can't view NEFs. Only someone with a D810 to my knowledge can convert the NEFs to JPG. Can you do so without any noise reduction? It's all depending on your interest and willingness and there are no obligations of course...it would just be nice to see the results pre-noise reduction.

Can I? Why, I can! Last time I tried to download software from Nikon (Nikon View NX 2) there was no possible way to do so. I expected the same to be the case here. Thanks!
