p.1 #1 · The Mower and the Damage Done ( Petition Re- Opened)
Well, I received some super bad news about the bobolinks. It seems the village of Chester is allowing a contractor to mow down the grasslands at Knapp's View in Sugar Loaf ( Chester, New York). After reporting the mower twice to the police today which supposedly stopped him yesterday. But he came back later to mow anyway. Apparently, the mower is related to a councilwoman which allows him to collect hay several times a year from the town park and recreation area. I met the town supervisor a few weeks ago and he assured me there would be no mowing until August. The grasslands are loaded with eastern meadowlarks and bobolinks, both endangered but of little concern to the local politicians. I started a petition against further mowing, sign it if you care, move on to the images if you don't.
Now the images. The first is from last week. It's a female feeding her chicks on a ground nest. This nest is now gone as it's been mowed over. The rest of the shots show two males looking around nearby where the nests could have been and a few landscapes to the atrocity done to these beautiful grasslands and their inhabitants.
Here's my petition:

SIgned…
To many stupid and greedy people. I encounter clueless people all the time and
you explain things to them but they just don't care. It's all about self entitlement.

Thanks for the support everyone. The NYDEC has been unresponsive to several avenues of communication to them, so the USFWS will send a special agent to investigate hopefully. Here's an update:
