Wanted to do this for a long time but I finally did it.

I bought a RJ lensturbo for ef-nex and a fotodiox ef to ef-m adapter and combined the 2.
Just removing the nex mount and bolting on a ef-m mount would have been pretty easy but I wanted aperture, AF, IS etc.

It's pretty tight inside but everything works!
There are some areas that I could have done a better job but as long as it's working I don't care.

The 40mm is a perfect fit at about 46mm. (40x1.6x0.72)
AF is about as fast as on a normal adapter.
I'm getting about 1/3 to 2/3 stops depending on the lens.
Center sharpness is good but corners are soft.
Since canon apsc sensor is 1.6 relative to sony 1.5 vignetting is probably a little less then on a nex camera

I'll post pics once I can get out of the house and take decent pictures.

Hi Please can you share some more photos and details of what you've done? did you take the electronics from the ef-m adapter and put it in the focal reducer? i have been thinking of doing this for a while but was not sure if it will work.. thanks

Repost the links as http and not https. Then they will be at least clickable or will show up as photos. You can also trim off the "?attredirects=0" on the end for a better link.

Here are some detail shots.
The e-mount bracket was removed on a lathe.
The e-mount flange focal distance is the same as the ef-m mount so the thickness removed is the same as the thickness of the ef-m mount of the fotodiox adapter.

Then the area for the electronics was removed using a mill.(removed too much)

Finally the part holding the reducer lenses was shaved down on a lathe to fit within the eos-m opening.

Wow, you've done well on this one. It's not as simple as i thougt. If i invest in a lathe machine, the cost of this project will go up significantly. thank you so much for taking the time to share this.

Regarding the assembly, can i ask how you tapped the tiny screws?

I'm starting to think that I do not have the right tools and enough skill to go ahead with this project without asking a friend to assist me in the process.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

herion, apparently i don't have enough posts to send pm, I'm new to the site.
Considering parts and labor I'll say it would be about $500+shipping. I'm not a professional machinest so I might put some scratches in the exterior finish as well. I can send you the details of each step I took, a professional can probably do a faster, cleaner job then I can.

The 40mm f2.8 has been on the camera for the majority of the time since making the focal reducer.
The cobra was taken with a FL85 F1.8 modified to ef mount + focal reducer. I love how I can get the thin dof shot of something big like a car and is making me want to try a 85mm f1.2.

WOW. Maybe you can start ordering the raw materials en masse, making these for us and turn a profit. I don't know why someone hasn't already made a native focal reduce for EF to M so that we can get the full-frame look in a tiny package.

I don't know why Metabones doesn't start making focal reducers for EF to M right away. That would just fly right of the shelves.

Henyo06, there is a metal lathe at my work so I was using that during lunch and after work.
Tapping holes is pretty easy just drill the right size hole and use a tap. I wanted to use metric screws but couldn't find any at work so used 0-80 or 1-72.

Gai Shan, there isn't much raw materials involved, i just modified existing parts. I'm no professional machinest and it took me a long time. The great thing about the ef to ef-m focal reducer is AF, IS, aperture, everything works. The 40mm is a great example since even manual focus needs power going to the lens. It becomes about 46mm and is a great walk around lens.
The flange distance is the same as a sony e mount and I'm not sure why any of the focal reducer companies haven't started making them.

"The flange distance is the same as a sony e mount and I'm not sure why any of the focal reducer companies haven't started making them. "

That's exactly what I'm saying. Maybe Meta got pressure from Canon not to make one because they don't like the idea of a mini FF competing with all their big stuff?

We need to get Zplus to start mass producing these.
It'll be like EdMika all over again.

Well there you go Zplus. How much for your first batch of 2? If you offer them at reasonable EdMika prices, I imagine there'd be quite a few biters around here.
