Another great article that should be a "must" read has once again been done by Rick Rickman in this months issue of SportsShooter. What Rick and many of us have been preaching for several years now seems to fall upon too many deaf ears.
Condeleeza Rice is National Security Advisor, but other than that it was a great article and hopefully will give people the courage to ask for what they deserve.
Good article. After reading I went to see if the member sign-up is still inactive, and it is. Then I read some of the forums, one about 'non members' trying to purchase from the classifieds and they go on to say that if the non members want to buy, then they should just sign up. That brings up a sore point, before the sign-up was closed, I was trying to build a portfolio, now that I MIGHT have some shots that I can use to 'qualify' the process has since closed (and will change). I wish these guys would lay off us 'non members' as it now seems to be a closed club. I would like to join just to have a chance of getting some more business as there is only one member in the Memphis area.
Hang in there, membership should be opening up again soon. Remember SS has grown enormously and that is difficult for working photographers to keep up, and remember it closed just before the Olympics and no one was going to be around!
I support the new application process of requiring a sponsor, I hope you would agree that it will mean a bit more to you than just filling in an online form.
Some interesting points there. I especially liked the idea that the fact that more and more amateur photographers are being able to produce good pics only means that only truly "unique" pros" will be abble to make money, and big time.
In his own words "The good news is that under this scenario, truly talented photographers will be highly sought after because of their unique vision. True talent always rises to the top and unique vision will become even more recognized for it's quality."
Thanks for pointing out the article -- I needed that reminder! My wife is always encouraging me to stick to my prices and stay at home if someone doesn't want to pay my price. I need to listen to her more . . . and put a tighter limit on the usage for my sports photos.
