I recently got a new (to me) lens, an older Tokina 20-35mm F3.5-4.5 II. So, yesterday I rode up to Brainard Lake Recreation area to do some hiking/photography in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. When I arrived, I found that the gates were still closed, so there was an additional 3 mile hike to get to the trailhead. This added an additional 6 miles to my hike, so I didn't hike as far in as I was expecting.
I hiked for a total of 10 miles, 4 of them being through 2'-10' snow drifts still covering the trail. I'm near laid up today and can barely climb my stairs
Anyway, here are the photos. I am not really impressed with the new lens. It seems to be pretty decentered as 1/3 of each shot is out of focus on the left side of all images, even at F11 and through all focal lengths. At 100% the sharpness really isn't there, even in the center of the frame. I think this one will be going back.
It's fun trying out new lenses, it's too bad that one doesn't seem like it will work out. #1 and 3 are my favorites here. I do think though that both shots has highlights that need to be pulled back though.
