That is a cool shot. It looks like the combo is going to work well for you. Perhaps the area around the sun is still a little hot, but overall a very nice image. The detail and dynamice range of the D800's are just out of this world, and I know from my own experience, it's a joy to work with.

Call me crazy, but I like how it looks (I did it on purpose). Actually, the D800 handled that area very nicely, I did a manual selection and brought up the brightness just a bit to give the area where the sun went down more of a "glow". I went back and forth between the two versions and I liked this one more, it was more pleasing to my eyes.
I agree though, the D800 is a beast of a camera, I'm really enjoying it.
