We stopped here for a one night layover on our way back to Page. We came through here in October but decided to skip it at the time. This is one of those parks where I sure wish I had a 4WD vehicle. I tried something a little different since this spot has been shot a million times over. I managed to be far enough away from the crowds to have a bit of peace and quiet. It ended up being a nicer experience than I thought it would. Take care guys.
A very cool composition, and some nice lighting. I do agree with Majeed it definitely has some purple casting, and also the reds are too hot. It's hard sometimes to process on smaller laptops. For temporary measures, you can adjust the saturation on your reds up about 15% on your laptop, that will cause you to bring down the saturation, which will bring you closer to where your shot will be.
Jordan, pretty nice comp there. Once you sort out the color/sat, try this for yet another perspective. See the far right dark crevasse in the foreground rock? Try a crop where it meets the bottom right corner of the frame. JMTC
Thanks for all of the help guys. I'm going to be home in about a week so I'll try and sort everything when I'm on a better monitor. I like the crop idea, I shot this quite a few ways under a lot of different light and I shot a few with something close to that foreground crop in mind.
I think this is a very effective use of a vertical panoramic format, and very good use of the 24mm TS-E to create it. Despite the fact that this is a 50/50 composition, it doesn't really feel that way. I'm not sure what it is that helps balance that out, but I think it has something to do with the clouds on the upper right, and the foreground in shadow. I do agree that there is a strange magenta-ish blotch on the right mitten, but that is something you'll be able to address when you get home and can view it on a full monitor. I certainly know how difficult it can be to edit on a laptop screen.
That's an interesting 'take' on the scene. I don't think I've ever seen such a narrow, vertical panoramic shot as yours. Glad you survived the Tourist Hordes and were able to make some interesting images.
I looked at the image when I got home and the magenta cast seemed to be from an adjustment brush from LR when I knocked the brightness down. I think it's fixed.
