p.1 #1 · The Radical Pend

Taken inside Scotland's oldest tunnel, which I didn't know until very recently despite walking through it regularly for the last 4 years.

Named in honour of the Radical Uprising of 1820

Thanks for looking.

#2 for me. Prefer the portrait crop as when combined with the stone path leads the eye up to the end of the tunnel.

Very good detail all round and I think you've balanced the shutter speed to smooth the water just a touch, but keep its movement visible.

It looks very slightly like to leans to the right a smidge (railings and tunnel exit), but only really visible when I look for it. Others may notice it more.

All round good job

Thanks very much. They are actually 3 shot hdr's to try and get a bit of detail/water movement with out blowing out the other side of the tunnel.

You might be right about the lean on the exit, I'm not sure about the railings; the closer ones look at a different angle to the further ones!

I also prefer the second as the light on the cobbles shows up really nicely.

I like seeing Historical presentations. I like shot #1. I think the dark wall adds to the nearly 200 year old look it takes on… Kinda like look’n through a time portal…

Thanks very much Jefferson.

I like the comp of 1 best, but the light on the cobbles just makes me prefer 1. Maybe a super side angle could have gotten me the best of both!

#2 for me.

I really like this shot. Lots of elements: Yellow/Orange vs Green of the Tree, Old solid bricks vs dynamic motion of water and youth of the tree leaves. Great leading lines through the tunnel vs horizontal lines of the brickwork, contrast of light and dark in the bricks, arch of the roof vs straight lines...
