I'm working on a project and when im done assembling the photos I intend to publish a photo book and sell it. Im wondering if anyone has any experiences with this and can maybe point me in the right direction.
I need a Publisher/Printer and perhaps some things to look out for.
Why not self publish on Amazon for free. Look up Createspace. The name of amazon printed publishing business is under. It is different than the ebook side.

I use Blurb for coffee table style albums but I have to admit, they're freaking expensive for very hit or miss quality (when it's hit, it's perfect). I can't imagine doing a press run using someone like Blurb.

Checkout blurb.com. It has creatives in mind.
That's interesting, Cineski. Sorry to hear your experience is here and there. I haven't used them, but a friend of mine uses the service, and has had about 6 books comped that look wonderful.
If you want to self publish a decent quality photo book, options like Blurb are OK.
If you're going after the higher end market and color accuracy and quality are paramount, you'll want to look into options like Asuka, Edition One, etc.
If you want information on how to write a book proposal and market it to publishers in the hope that they'll pick up your book, then I recommend the book link that I posted above. It covers everything from making a Blurb book, to getting picked up by an actual publisher.
Lots of great ideas, resources, and marketing strategies, too!
What it your primary goal? To have a book published, or earn money by selling your photos regardless of the media?
If the book as a format is not a strict imperative, you may be interested in creating downloadable photo calendars (either for your promotion or sales).
