My daughter's HS LAX team faced the arch-rivals this weekend for the Central Mass Division 1 title.
The last time they met during the regular season her team barely squeaked by, winning 13-12. This time was a lot different, her team came out shooting and won 18-9. They also won the Central Mass title last year.
They will now play the traditional Western Mass powerhouse this week in the State semi-final (they beat them 11-10 in OT last year).
Congratulations, Chris! Sounds intense. Some great action captures here. 2, 3 and 5 are my favorites, and I like the team jibe as well. Good luck with the upcoming battles.
When shooting LAX, the dilemma I most often find is that shots on goal aren't as compelling on the follow through compared to the windup, despite a ball being in mid air. Daughter aside, #1, #4, and #7, although they tell the story, aren't as compelling for me as say #3 and #8 because of the timing. Plus, there is a lot more opportunity for sticks across faces to further take away from the shot. My favorite shots tend to be shots like 2,5,6. Shots on goal, for the most part have to be caught exactly at the right moment and at the right angle to become really good keepers.
Chris - congratulations to your daughter and her team on going through. It's a great experience. I hope she enjoys every minute of it. I know my daughter did during the fall soccer run.
Your best shots (all things considered) are 2, 3 and 5. I think these are sweet shots. As a rule I mostly follow, when shooting the fairer sex, I don't post or keep a shot if there is a stick (1&7) near a shooters face.
