I just finished my video portfolio as my final grade for my journalism class and thought I'd share and get some thoughts on it! I know that it's not all sports but a good majority are so bare with me.
It's really hard to offer comments on the "pictures" because as John stated, they are on and off the screen so quickly that I can't begin to take it all in. Keep in mind my perspective likely is very different than most everyone else here as my full-time job is in television news. To me, a "video portfolio" has to be compelling and emotional and most importantly it has to be VIDEO. I personally don't like using animation effects in an effort to make photographs look like video. (I also don't like that fact that television stations try to make their websites look like a newspaper and newspapers try to offer video to look like a TV station, but that's an entirely different discussion.)
Again, that is one man's perspective. I think you probably have a number of outstanding images in the video clip, but I can't get past the presentation in order to comment.
For an overview of the school year synchronized with music, it was pretty good and worked well. Some of those cuts were a wee bit fast.
For some of the faster transitions, a burst (if you had it) might have worked better. And in all fairness, you do tell the viewer where to find the images you used so if something did scroll by a little too fast, you'd still be able to go look
