Hello all,

This is an odd question. I just purchased the Canon 70-200mm USM II 2.8 lens and the lid that covers the lens seems different then when I have rented this same lens in the past. My worry is that I think I bought a brand new lens, but maybe the store sold me a used/demo one.

The covers I have seen in the past say "Canon Ultrasonic" and you pinch the outside of the lens cover to get it off. This one says Canon in the center and you pinch closer to the middle of the cover to remove it.

Can someone tell me if Canon started using different covers, or am I being paranoid?

Canon changed the lens cap design to the center pinch type recently.

Well, what is it they say - just because you are paranoid does not mean that someone is not after you.

I think the condition of the lens and parts in the packaging is the best indication if the lens has been used.
