I'm looking for a good hiking waist pack that will hold a D800 along with a 16-35mm f4 VR and 70-200mm f4 VR. I was thinking the Clik Elite Trekker bag might work, but I'm worried it might be a bit small for this gear. Has anyone used the Trekker waist pack with similar gear?
Or, can anyone recommend an alternative waist pack that will hold this gear?
Hi Cliff I have the same set up. I am also looking for a waist pack. I watched the video for the Elite and it did not look like it would work with the 70-200 F4. So I am still looking if I find something I will pm you.
thanks charles354
According to the Clik Elite web site, the internal depth of the camera compartment of the Trekker is 8", which is exactly the length of the 70-200 f4 with caps, so it woud theoretically fit. I just wonder if that leaves enough room for the camera and another lens the size of the 16-35VR.
The old LowePro Orion AW would have fit the bill, but I see it's been discontinued.

I still use the LowePro Orian AW... it is a sweet pack so it's a shame they discontinued it. I recently had the plastic buckle break on it so it wouldn't latch. I emailed customer service at LowePro and the guy mailed me one out free of charge. Now that's good customer service!
I actually hang 2 more lens pouches off of the belt for it, so I can carry my 14mm, the 16-35mm, 70-300mm, grads, filters, batteries, my whole camera kit all fits in or hangs off the Orion AW... maybe you can find a used one somewhere?

PS... I also hang my case for my SB-800 on it, and a carrier that holds a 20oz Gatorade bottle...
Well, I decided to go ahead and order the Clik Elite Trekker from amazon.ca - hopefully it gets here before I head out of town next week. I will post my findings once I have a chance to stuff some gear into it.
Well, the Trekker waist pack arrived, and I was quite impressed with the quality of the pack, aside from the rain cover which seemed to be a poorly-executed afterthought, and I decided to remove it.
The pack holds (very snugly) a Nikon AF-S 70-200 f4 VR with reversed hood and RT-1 tripod collar (with RRS plate) attached, a D800 body with RRS L-bracket attached, and an AF-S 16-35mm f4 VR without the hood. You can squeeze the hood in on top, but it's not a good fit and I will probably leave mine at home - it's too shallow to be of much use anyway. There is probably enough room on top of the 16-35 to fit a 1.4X extender in a padded pouch, but I haven't tried that yet.
