p.1 #1 · Best 3 shots from my last high school baseball game of the year
We have an opportunity to be in Kansas City shooting near the dugout in the very near future. So, I ventured out to try to get some practice shots at a local high school game before we head out. I had a couple of better action shots, but they weren't 100% sharp, so I left them in the bucket for later.
I liked the landscape look of shot 1 as it gets the entire pitcher's stretch.
I like 2 for the dirt popping out of his glove
And I'm submitting 3, because I liked how the ball is right in front of the cloud of dirt. It made me think of a "smoking" fastball.

Nice shots, John. They all work for me. I'm drawn more to the pitcher shots, but I don't know why because the catcher shot is pretty cool, maybe just a bit less dynamic. I also like that you've shared with us what drew you to these particular images. No argument here, and I think #3 could work as a horizontal presentation as well, assuming there's anything more to the right of where you've cropped it. Thanks for sharing 'em.

Russ is right on the money on this one. The landscape crop is better for number three. The ball was too close to edge in the portrait orientation. The second version gives everything a bit more breathing room. Well done.

John....nice captures and agree with the others on the 2nd crop. A little tip I use for the catcher shots....I'll talk to the catchers and tell them to rub a little dirt in their glove. This guy took it a bit far when I saw him putting handfuls of dirt in there and this was the result.

Cool shot! and fun tip thanks.
I'm working on the right amount of tightness. Shot tight, crop tighter. But I think I've taken it too tight. I've heard a couple a people saying leave a little more room on the edges of my shots, so that's what I'll be working on for the next month of shots.
