Hello, I have a 5d2 that I don't use as often as I'd like and I recently noticed that each time I switch the battery I have to set the date and time again. The camera has ben repaired and I mind if the small "watch like" battery that's inside need to be replaced. Maybe that small battery is responsable to hold that info.

Do you have to set the date each time you switch the battery too?

Yes, you need to replace the small watch battery, and you should be fine.

Sounds like you should replace the "watch" battery. It provides power for the camera date and settings when the main battery is not there.

Yep, those button cells tend to fade after 4 or 5 years. My 2009 5D2 is still okay...

I just switched the small battery and now the date remains the same when I switch the battery. But I still have a little problem, I still can't use myshuttercount.com to know the shutter counts of my camera, I receive a message that says that my camera does not record any shutter info, of course the picture was unedited. I can't use eoscount.com as I only have a mac.
I thought that replacing the small battery could fix this issue but it didn't.

Any tips?

depends on what you believe

I suspect only Canon can truly tell you how many activations are on the 5D II.
I also suspect those third party webistes, and programs are not accurate.

1 series bodies have an actual Canon program to determine shutter count.
only the 1 series

In Canada, that would be a "Borden".

P.S. did you know that the penny has been discontinued in Canada?
