From JM workshop. This time shot indoors and setup 3 speedlights
1 to the right in a softbox
1 in ezbox to left and behind with half power
1 in LPT on the floor ..which is too bright i think.

Looking for your feedback, critique, guidance.

color management is going to be the death of me.

The only things I'd do with these would be to brighten up the irises of the eyes just a bit, and then (next time) tone down that speedlight on the backdrop (maybe gel it, too). The first one's not bad (regarding the backdrop light), except for what looks like a smudge just to the camera right side of her waist that could be cloned out. The second one's just too hot on the back. Otherwise these look good.

I'm sure the workshop with Joe was a great experience. Julia Dean, right?

Hi Steve,
Thank you for the feedback. Yes it was JD. The workshop was great, especially for a noob like me who has never worked with artificial light before. I'm mainly a landscape/wildlife shooter.

color management unless its specific types of commercial work is very subjective so dont worry about it too much )

Love #2. I would burn her left shoulder a bit just so it would not compete for attention with the face as much... but love it either way...

What cool shots, it looks like you learned a lot at that workshop. I like both of these.

And a great one!
It looks great Sunny, especially as a first try with artificial lighting. I agree with you in regard to the lower light, imo it's a little strong and takes away from her face. The second image has a small green cast on my monitor.
Keep them coming!

Sunny-
To give you the benefit of my vast expertise in the field of portraiture and studio lighting, let me just say this:
My, what a pretty girl!
I have no such expertise- but I know what I like .

Just a couple thoughts not previously expressed. Her particular nose shape could use a little more fill on the shadow side to make it more flattering. And, in general, I would say don't highllight a woman's hips with the background light placement. The first one is shot from too low an angle (or you could have asked her to lower her chin). But a beautiful woman and a very good start.
