p.1 #1 · Moose - 50km back in the Bush - Near Kootenay National Park
Dan Heitman and I went out Sunday and we looked and looked for some exciting animals, but to no avail.
After driving 50km in the bush, over snow and avalanche paths we finally found a set of moose. Unfortunately it was close to mid day, so these are the best ones I got. But we did not get stuck or eaten by a bear, so it was a great day.
These ones were almost to Kananaskis Country from the west side, on a rough logging road.

KCollett: It was a fantastic day of 20 degree weather. The young moose should be changed in color shortly. Its amazing to think what a tough winter they had. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Scott,
Good light/bad light... Doesn't matter to me... these are wonderful images.
As a city boy, I must ask: surely those babies are this year's crop? Born about when?

surfnron: Glad you like them. There are my first moose of the year. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
CDaescher: The young ones were very skittish. But the mom was just happy eating green leaves. Glad you like 3. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
RichFisher: The frames come from paying $5/month to post upload and post images (as opposed to linking) on fredmiranda. There is a check this box spot that frames them for you. Glad you like them as framed. Much appreciated. Scott
thehotel: Glad you like my moose. it took me about 4 hours and 500 km's to find. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
kmunroe: The winter was good to the moose. Its a tough job for mother moose to keep two calves alive. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Charlie Shugart: I am not sure because these moose are a bit small for second season however they are getting rid of their winter coat which they would not be born with - thus my theory, 2nd season. Plus the mother was not overly protective and the season is early for such big calves. I have seen newborns and they are brown and specked and significantly smaller. Glad you like my moose. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Scott--nice set. These look pretty health for spring! But, I am curious--in #4 the yearling on the right has several, what look like scars, running parallel to each other on its side. Or at least from this angle, they look like possibly claw marks? Any thoughts on that--could it be from a grizzly or wolf attack?
