p.1 #1 · Follow up on Planning and Visualization

HI all,

While out on the river shoot a couple of weeks ago I did some color work as well. The main plan was B&W film but with enough time I shot some color as well. This is another image of the rapids, very similar to the image I previously posted in B&W but with a slightly different perspective.

Color film has a lot less latitude than B&W, so I exposed this one on the highlights. Measuring the whites and bringing the exposure up by 1.5 stops. This kept the whites bright and still had enough latitude to go deep into the forest shadows. Shooting the film at ISO 40 instead of at the rated ISO 50 reduced the Velvia contrast somewhat. Unfortunately, a gust of wind moved the branches top left so I doubt I will use this, just thought you would like to see the same scene (somewhat) shot in color film.

The planning and visualization scheme still applied, just with different film parameters.

Thanks for looking,

Best,

Jose

Stunning, I agree with Kelly, very nearly as good as the Monochrome versions

Very nice. What's surprising, this little plant in a middle of the stream came out so sharp in spite of long exposure.
