I observed a pair of Cara Cara working in cooperation with each other around a bush on a fence line. Obviously there something in there that they wanted. They never did catch it though. It was interesting to watch their hunt though.

I was driving through the pasture with my window down when I heard this momma RTH "yelling" at me. I stopped to investigate and discovered that she was sitting on a nest with a baby. I walked up closer and she flew off, leaving the baby. She stayed directly overhead telling me how unhappy she was. Gives new meaning to "watch you like a hawk".

Landpirate, thanks for sharing the great shots. Where did you find these? I have been trying to get Cara Cara @ hornsby but its been elusive to date, flying away just as I pull in.

Thanks gents.
I found the pair of CaraX2 alongside a farm-to-market road between Kyle and Buda (area of Mountain City). I see them all the time but seldom close enough to get a good shot with my 300mm lens. This pair was so involved in hunting whatever was in the bush that they paid no attention to me when I stopped on the shoulder and began taking pics.
The RTH nest is on a property that is owned by a friend between Buda and Driftwood. I never would have noticed the nest if momma hadn't been making so much noise as I drove by.
All of these were simply targets of opportunity while I was going about other activities.

Thanks for the compliments gents.
I'm nowhere near perfect but I'm still working on it. I have to give everyone on this site credit for teaching me so much in such a short period of time. I feel like I've come a long way from my first few sets after joining. I'm still not completely satisfied so I'll keep working toward that goal. And I know that I can count y'all to keep pushing. Thanks a bunch to the men and women of this forum.
