More images of the amazing variety of Belize birds we saw during a one week visit in February.
Some of my favorite Central American birds are the Trogons. We saw four different varieties in Belize. Unfortunately they tend to be pretty skittish and they generally stay in the shadows in the rain forest, not ideal for photography. But I thought I would share them all the same.
All shot handheld with the 1DX and 500II. Thanks for stopping by, folks.
Best,
Jim
#1 Slaty-tailed trogon (1/1000, f4.5, ISO 1600)
#2 Violaceous trogon (1/800, f4.5, ISO 1600)
#3 Black-headed trogon (1/640, f4, ISO 2500)
#4 Collared trogon, very heavy crop - but what a beautiful bird (1/800, f4, ISO 2000)
#5 Keel-billed toucan, heavy crop (1/1250, f7.1, ISO 400)
Great job finding and capturing the Trogon's Jim, it doesn't look easy at all.
The Toucan is a beauty, I always enjoy seeing their huge bills.
6, 7, and 8 are really terrific... love each of those as presented.
Excellent work and I really enjoyed each image.
Excellent work Jim. Your photos from this trip have been superb, you have done an excellent job shooting in the canopy and making it look easy. This set is no exception, another feast for the eyes
Congrats on these captures, Jim. Beautiful birds and good job capturing them. Not as easy as it might look
The last three are on top of my favorites
