Hi hope you can help, This is my first post. I mainly shoot Motocross Photography and recently my Transcend UDMA 32GB 400x card packed up half way through, tried everything but just completely died on me, so i purchased another off Amazon this card is again Transcend 32GB 400x but its UDMA 7 and says 20 in a little film clip ( Your all probably laughing now as i don't know what this means)
Problem i have is i recently took about 1000 shots on the UDMA 7 card and 1000 on the normal UDMA card, when i pop them in my USB 3 card reader the UDMA 7 took ages to copy across to my iMac, about 30 mins, yet the standard UDMA took few minutes, i thought the UDMA 7 should of been faster, Do you think i have a faulty card.
I belive it's your card-reader. Some of the USB 3 readers need a firmware upgrade to work good with some of the UDMA 7 cards. Like the Lexar USB 3 reader.
I own both the cards that you also have. The new UDMA 7 card is a lot faster than the older.
You do not have a faulty CF card. The problem is your card reader. Some USB 3 card readers are not working correctly with UDMA 7. I know this because I own one that is awful. I have the Delkin USB 3 reader and it is terrible for UDMA 7 cards. It works fine for SD cards and other CF cards. Delkin does not offer a firmware update for this reader to fix the issue, so basically it is now junk.
I have the same Transcend UDMA7 32GB CF card and on the Kingston USB3 reader, it's average about 64MB/s while the Sandisk Extreme Pro UDMA6 is about 47MB/s, so this card is fast on a good USB reader.
