Here are a few dragonflies I photographed last week near the coast in North Carolina...John

Blue Corporal

The ID of this one has me stumped. It looks like a Common Baskettail except for the yellow shoulder stripe. Help would be appreciated

For the last, look at the "corporals", genus Ladona (if you prefer to split Libellula). They are named after the shoulder stripes, I assume.

Vox, good one. I looked at the Corporals, but the guide I looked in did not have a good set of female photos. the best fit was a female chalk-fronted corporal, but they are not found that far south. On further research I found photos online that identify it as a female Blue Corporal. The males are common in the area but this is the first female I have seen.
