The Lens Price Database, Lens$db, has prices and physical specifications for over 475 lenses, including: all Canon EF prime lenses and EF Extenders; all Canon EF L-series zoom lenses, plus a few others; a variety of lenses from Sigma, Tamron and Tokina; a large selection of “alternative” manual focus lenses from Carl Zeiss, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Voigtlander, and other brands; a selection of Medium Format Mamiya 645 lenses that are more-or-less compatible with EOS cameras, and with the Mirex Tilt-Shift adapter; and, Fujifilm XF lenses, plus a small selection of LM and LTM rangefinder-style lenses. The prices are mostly for used equipment in excellent to mint condition, based on eBay sales and list prices at many camera stores.
Version 24 ... a labor of love and dedication rarely seen in much of today's world. I think I picked up my first one around V. 11. Thanks for all that you give to us here, both in the database and so much more. You truly add value to FM for your fellow FM members in many ways.
... first round's on me whenever our paths should cross.
It would be interesting to see price development over time for some of the lenses. A consensus seem to be that prices of C/Y Zeiss have risen the last couple of years. Is there a way to d/l old versions (dated?) of the database? If so I would be happy to check a few lenses and post the results here.
I'm already starting to plan my most excellent free-beer adventure. I figure I'll start in Southern Illinois, and then head over to Sweden. I'll try to take advantage of any other opportunities that might come up...
I agree that the CZ prices have risen in the last couple of years. I've attached a graph showing price data trends for the CZ Planar 85/1.4. It's the only CZ lens that I've been explicitly following, along with a variety of Canon and other Alt lenses.
All of the Lens$db database versions are still online. You can simply edit the url to access older versions. For example,
Thanks for the links but your sheets are protected so its not possible to copy cells for some reason I dont understand. But never mind your graph tells a story which is probably representative. Flattish 2006-2010 then up about 25-30% or so.
The .xls and .xlsx files are protected worksheets, so you can't change and then save them, but you should be able to copy and paste to a new worksheet: select range with mouse or keypad; open new workbook; use paste_special/values, and you should have the contents. Use paste_special column_widths on the same selection, and you should be where you want to be. The formulae are protected, not the values.
P.S. I can send you the unprotected files, if you want them.
Make Colorado a stop on the tour, Jim. A, we have more micro-breweries than residents, and two, I'll be happy to supply you with examples of them all while you tour the southern Rockies.

I'll be in Boulder for a wedding in late June. We might have a chance to hook up.

Thank for the update.
As i wrote some time ago, i'd be great if Nikon AF lens are added.....
An infinite number of Canon users, typing for an infinite length of time might be able to do this, but they'd probably get the prices wrong.
