p.1 #1 · This afternoon's outing with my Nikkor 500mm N Reflex

My neighbor's granddaughters softball game:

I'm not really into long lenses and fast action........ I'm really a 17mm/landscape kinda guy.

Comments welcome!

A lot of the photos don't seem really sharp, missed focus maybe? And anticipation the action is a big part of sports photography, it takes a while to get the feel for sports photography.

It's a mirror lens, so it's manual focus all day long.

I agree with Gome. All the images are soft. Squaring up for the bunt is the best shot.

1st two shots are identical. You need more action in your shots.

I agree with other comments here, these look really soft. Without the EXIF info it's hard to tell whether it's a focus problem or a shutter speed issue. For more info on that lens (and tips), read Ken Rockwell review here.

According to Ren Kockwell, mirror lenses are as useful to photography as mosquito spit. So I tend to not care what he says.

As for EXIF data, it won't to you any good anyway.... what you are looking for isn't recorded. Shutter speeds were around 1/1250.

Yes they are soft, but given the kind of lens used not too bad at all. It would be nice to see what you an capture using an autofocus lens.

to everyone crying about them being soft, its a reflex lens, not the $11K super sharp sports lens. Considering what you were using, they arnt that bad.
