A lot of the photos don't seem really sharp, missed focus maybe? And anticipation the action is a big part of sports photography, it takes a while to get the feel for sports photography.

It's a mirror lens, so it's manual focus all day long.

I agree with other comments here, these look really soft. Without the EXIF info it's hard to tell whether it's a focus problem or a shutter speed issue. For more info on that lens (and tips), read Ken Rockwell review here.

to everyone crying about them being soft, its a reflex lens, not the $11K super sharp sports lens. Considering what you were using, they arnt that bad.
