I agree --- the little guy has a huge swing; you should be proud!

And in the first image he knows to tilt the head, get the visor shadow gone, and bam, baseball card ready.

Russ, appreciate the comments. Thanks for the "Baseball Refresher Course" you provided before I ventured out

Andy, thanks, sometimes it does all come together

He's 8 years old, loves the hitting part of the game, here's another shot, on how he feels the rest of the game is though

Thanks again, Bob

Bob, good comments you've gotten so far. My $.02 worth: the first shot would be better if your little guy were looking our way, like after hitting the ball to the right side. Also, this is clearly a strike (or a foul ball) since we can see the ball behind him, and getting him after putting the ball in play would be a better shot.

The second capture doesn't work for me that much. His face is hidden.

Hope this helps.

Dennis

Dennis. Thanks. The first shot was a foul ball, the second was a hit
I only had two chances so I was trying for one from each side. So I had a 50/50 chance
I think the next game I'll try everything from the first base line
Thanks again for taking the time to comment

Ted, I added another crop of the first shot. Is this more in line with what you were thinking?
Thanks again for the comments

Better Bob! I would crop even tighter. I will gladly remove the image if you wish.

For me, what's endearing about that first image is the complete abandon of the swing. I think the super-tight crop detracts from this feel of the photo. I definitely would crop enough to remove the horizontal bars of the fence, but otherwise, this is a swing that requires some space. Otherwise, I would agree with Ted at least 9 out of 10 times he would offer the 'tighter crop' feedback.

Ted, thanks for taking the time to rework it.

Russ, thanks for throwing in your 2 cents. I do see your viewpoint, it is a "Big Time" swing, that needs SPACE. Appreciate both of you guys, helping out, it's helping me to take a step back at times, to get a different perspective

Thanks again, Bob

Nice, Bob! Love to see what he could do connecting solidly with a swing like that! Nice pics!

Thanks Ron, when he does connect, it sure does have that "nice sound" for sure. In this league, they have the coaches pitching to them, most balls with contact, barely make it to the infielders, and of course the outfielders are right behind them, so all the 9 fielders are literally in the infield area When Christian and one other batter, connect and hits line drives thru to the outfield, people do take notice, BUT, they are not allow to take any more then one base per hit, but they are all having fun
Thanks for taking the time to comment

I can see why you like this from a personal perspective (most of us probably started with shooting our kids), but this doesn't really work for me. With the dirt bouncing up, we can see it was probably a foul tip and the ball is going backwards. This image works so much better when the eyes of the batter are following the ball as it is going deep. If he hits it to right, he'll be looking right at you, if you are down the 1st base line, as you were apparently on this image. I think I echo what Dennis said. I might have kept the image for personal reasons, but if it wasn't my kid, it would have been deleted in camera or at import/first cull.

Tim. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree with both you and Dennis as far as the image really not being up to the standards as far as a quality BB shot. He's my grandson. He only gets two plate appearances per game. So I thought I would give it a shot. I learned that the first base line is probably where I want to be, so I'll keep at it and maybe get a nice hit the next time out

Thanks again for the comments
Bob
