p.1 #1 · Flash Sync with profoto Air

Hi all, I am shooting with a Canon 1D3, which has a flash sync of 1/320. Will I be able to use that with the Profoto Air triggering system? Supposedly it is possible with the Pocket Wizard Flex and mini transmitters.

The Profoto air can apparently sync up to 1/1600... I think you're fine.

Only one way to find out. It will sync up to 1/1600 using a leaf shutter on a Phase One body, but focal plane's always hairy.

The Air system does have the benefit of an extremely short delay. Tolerances being what they are, results are best determined by testing under your own normal shooting conditions.

The Profoto Air System will sync fine at 1/320s, on fast mode. You will be lucky to get 1/200s with normal mode. The batteries will not last through a two day shoot on fast mode, so you need to keep a supply of AAA batteries on hand. On normal mode, the batteries last for weeks.
