I do get it. And -3EV sensitivity helps you when shooting in the dark. Therefore I said "in good light". But wrt precision with fast lenses, the 6D cross isn't any better than the one in 20D and later. You get additional high precision baselines sensitive to vertical detail, when fast lens is mounted.

Just like Ken Rockwell. So many people review cameras that have not shipped yet, touched yet, or shot with yet. They even review other cameras that haven't been announced yet.

Sad.

Read a very detailed review about the 6D AF system at Digital Picture com, or at CPN. The center point is also much better for tracking with AI servo than those other cameras you say have the same AF point.
It's rather obvious that 3 AF lines is not the same as 2 AF lines. It's also obvious that 3 lines will pick up or lock the AF better than 2 will. More is better. And that's why the 1DX and 5D3 have 4 lines.

Allright. Let's take it apart. 61pt AF systems have "4 lines" in the sense that there is normal precision cross of the + shape, with additional diagonal high precision cross for the fast lenses, of the x shape. BTW, such a cross (maybe not that big, but of the same principle) is also present in: 40D, 50D, 60D and 7D. So if we take "line" as the pair of rangefinder baselines, then 20D, 30D, 5D, 5D2, 6D and also 400D and later also do have "3 lines".

Third "line" (i.e. high precision baselines) kicks in for fast lenses. Just look up older cameras' reviews.

Yes, 6D will see much better in the dark and it will lock where the other cameras would see no contrast. Therefore I write about good light. In dark, 6D wins, in good light, it can't use its only advantage.

Tracking is the function of the algorighms and CPU behind the sensor, of which Canon doesn't disclose any details (sans number of CPUs occasionally), therefore I keep to paper specs. We're not given any meaningful data by Canon on how good is the tracking on certain cameras.

Instead of reading "very detailed reviews" I recommend to look into FM archives, especially here, this is a very good schematics on how 30D and 400D's AF sensor is laid out:

Yes I'm sure the 40D and 7D have the same dual cross-points as the 1DX and 5D3

Yes, the same principle. Normal precision + cross and high precision x cross.

Then you probably believe that they have similar AF also. As good as the 1DX & 5D3. Like the 6D and those other very old bodies

Don't worry, I most probably don't.

But I do my homework. BTW, have you already counted how many "lines" are there for the central AF point of 400D?

You make another mistake.

I have not stated an opinion. I have not seen or touched the camera or shot with it. I haven't read any reviews yet.

Great success can be had by reading for comprehension and thinking logically. It is not logical to think that pointing out the fallacy of reviewing unannounced cameras equates with being "optimistic".

Please I implore you and everybody else add 127.0.0.1 kenrockwell.com to your hosts list. If you can't go there maybe in time you can forget.

One less than the 6D. And those points are also less sensitive and less good

Your image doesn't work for me. "One less than 6D" can't be, because I see 3 on my 400D scheme: Vertical normal, horizontal normal, and horizontal high precision. That's 3.

Yep, but it won't pair as well with almost any other lens.

Happy shooting,

And as long as the only lens you want is an effective 64mm.

If Canon came up with a 22mm pancake or similar that would be a different story

But the camera is very cute
