I'm using a wordpress template from graphpaperpress with a slider style gallery that encourages browsing but with clickable thumbnails along the bottom. It works exactly the same on smartphone, tablet or computer.
Works excellent on all devices, and if you use Lightroom it is a breeze to build new albums.
I second Ventieldopje on the themeforest for inspiration. There is some very good templates there, and they are extremely reasonable in price. I have bought a few over the years. It is a great way to pay $10-$20 and get a good base code to start with.

If we're talking Lightroom plugins, one of the most popular galleries for Wordpress named NextGEN Gallery has a lightroom plugin available for $15 (or for free with some options disabled).
NextGEN provides a good and free code base to design your theme on if you're using Wordpress.

Which company are you hosting through? You can check to see if they have responsive templates for you to use for your website and galleries.
Webhostingpad, I have been with them for a long time and they have been good to me.
I don't like using automated code, I like to really understand it so javascript is my fav! But if I can find some clean lightroom plugins that don't take too much bandwidth that would be nice. Right now I do short scripts and the old find and replace trick with notepad++ to gen up the html.
The photoswipe one that I am testing now seems great for mobile phones but I just can't figure out a clean way to have my site redirect to a different site for phones. This weekend when I have time I am going to clean up some code and try some stuff out. If not I'll just put a mobile button on my site and tell folks to go to the mobile button.
yes i have the pro version. but even the free version works with lightroom.
search lightroom on the juicebox site, it will take you to the lightroom module that you download for free and add to lightroom - instructions are provided.
it shows up just like any other template in lightroom.
in my workflow i use Collections to simulate my website (i have about 50 albums all catigorized). I create a new collection, go into the web module, select my preset template, change the title of the album, and upload it to my ftp site. it takes me no time at all.
more time is spent setting upa link on my site since that is real html work
hope this helps, good luck with whar ever you choose.
Cool I might try that. I have been looking for a way to do client photos so their extended families can see (and purchase pics =)) It would be nice to quickly set up a page.
I think I am going to stay with the Photoswipe for my mobile pics I like the UI and it's pretty simple.
