Fantastic shots, every one! So weird to see a meadowlark in the snow. Where I'm at in the north they are the bird who's arrival signifies the beginning of spring and I've never seen one here while it's still snowy.
Ashley, yep, I'm just far enough south such that yours and the Dakota meadowlarks come down to this area where snowcover doesn't last all that long after a storm in a typical winter. The meadowlarks can tolerate snow as long as it doesn't last too long and isn't too deep. This past snow, though, was pretty deep and there were a lot of birds along the highways and coming to feeders and whatnot. It's a rare opportunity to get artistic type shots of them with the snow, so I had to take advantage! -Mike
