I found them mostly to be sharp, just a lot of selective focus/dof control and or other post-capture creative manipulations. Seems like everyone here is striving for the sharpest lens, the most resolution, the best auto focus, etc. Looking for examples of interesting pictures despite not passing today's technical antiseptic clinical scrutiny. Unfortunately, finding examples seems to be a fairly difficult chore. I don't have good image recall by selection criteria, nor do I save large sets of favorite images. Makes it hard to search for such examples. However, for example, virtually virtually all the old pictorialist work would fail the modern photo esthetic demands. Well, if you're looking for "interesting" but not technically antiseptic, then the Alt Forum is the place to go. While the "criteria" for the Alt Forum is other than Canon/Nikon, there is a plethora of images from lenses of yore (& present) that have "character" beyond that of the clinical antiseptic. I'd recommend starting with the Alt Images Thread. You'll find literally thousands of such images in this and other threads (and archives) in the Alt Forum of such "non-clinical" works and discussions about the glass (and people) that produces them.
