That one looks like you got pretty close to where the action is.

Curious @ lighting. Exif says no flash, and I see no strong shadow, yet the catchlight and falloff ...

Tweaked on color a bit. Thought I went too yellow, checked some numbers and things seemed in order ... thoughts

Nice and sharp! Excellent bird. I agree it's a bit blue, but perhaps it doesn't need quite so much correction. Maybe a bit more space on the right and bottom?

Kent,
thanks
No flash. Slight vignette + some manual darkening upper left corner where there was already a bit of shaded light.

Karen and Kent,
Agreed, too cool. I cant tell from memory how cool the tones were but I would say that "the reality" is closer to Karen's interpretation. Definitely not as warm as yours, Kent.
Cropped image with some slight rotation. I do have more to work with on the right without cloning, but only a sliver on the bottom. My bad in framing the shot. I like the expanded room you have added Karen. I decided to try the best standard aspect ratio crop from original, choosing 4x5 as the best aesthetic.

revised without cloning

possibly too warm. Used the Auto color balance feature in LR.
The whites in the feathers are not neutral.
The beak does have a bluish tone, not neutral black/gray.

Wonderfully crisp, log at right anchors frame nicely - My preference is #3 - I like the warmth - natural or not

Enjoy the weather!

That would explain why I went too warm ... thanks.

Your rework looks good.

Thanks Bob, Kent.
Finalized, posted on Nature/Wildlife to strong reviews.
Appreciate everyone's help tweaking the image.
