Since the expected snow storm petered out I ventured forth to see what other sights might present themselves.
Afternoon sun coaxed out prismatic rainbow colors from Bridalveil Fall.
This shot is largely a JPEG OOC with a Circular Polarizer in place to bring out color. Saturation was bumped +8 in PS CS5.
While hordes of 'Horsetail Supplicants' took up positions at the picnic area nd the Southside Drive location the light today didn't cooperate.
So, I headed up to Tunnel View and turned my camera toward the right side of Cathedral Rocks to capture the interesting chiarascuro light and clouds. I often do this if the iconic scene is not presenting well. And, as is the case here, I usually prefer a moody treatment in black & white.

Jim - Yes, I often like to look around the Tunnel View location and have gotten some "small" landscape keepers by making sure to survey the full 360-degree scene.
Love love love! I wish you could show me around when we are there the beginning of April. It's hard enough just trying to get a decent shot, but to not know where to go as well...(and then have family in tow... yikes) I am going to try to get some time on my own, so I can take my time.
scraptag - Thanks for the kind comment. Not to worry about locations - if you're not entirely familiar with the park, get Michael Frye's excellent book "The Photographer's Guide to Yosemite." It will guide you to appealing locations with optimimum shooting times.
April should give you excellent waterfall scenes with good flow!
