Meh. I won't watch the videos either. It's pretty obvious that the lens is not up to production yet. Anyway it is all promotion/advertizing until there are independent lab tests of production models.

It's useful that he confirmed external TCs can be used on the lens.
He got a bit confused about the purpose of each of the IS Modes, but I do not blame him for screwing up the Mode 3, because it is still not clear in my mind who'd use that and why.
When it comes to the lens weight, I felt he sounded kinda vague..."it's heavier than 300 f/2.8 IS and lighter than 500 f/4" . Which 500 f/4.....MkI or MkII ? Besides, why didn't he weigh the lens, then he'd now for sure.

Dear Canon,
You should've gotten Petkal to do the video review.
Cheers,

Pogito, that could obviously never happen. However, at least in theory, Nikon might be willing to pay me to review some of the Canon lenses, such as 800L or 400 DO.

Speak for yourself.
Okay, me. Sorry for offending you with my remark. It's just that this video tells us nothing that we did not know 11 months ago. Except for maybe the fact that you can use TC's which most everyone expected.

Once again you are using the term "us" to include me.
Until watching his video, I did not know:
1. That you could use TC's, which most everyone did not know.
2. That the weight is close to that of the 500 f4 (probably version I).
3. And that the optical performance rivals that of the primes.

I wonder what combo would give better IQ:
1)Lens with built-in TC active and a 1.4TCMkIII added OR
2)Lens without the built-in active and the 2.0TCMkIII added?
The lens with built-in active and a 2.0TCmkIII added would likely be pushing it. But it would give you a non autofocusing 560-1120 f/11 lens. that with a flick of a switch would go back to a 400-800 f/8 lens.
And why couldn't he be more specific if he was talking about the 500 mkI or mkII when mentioning the weight?? Still seems lighter than previous estimates putting it at 400 f/2.8II or 600 f/4II type of weight.
