what a bummer, conrad. i hope you feel better. i broke my foot in college and was on crutches for 10 weeks ao i know what a pain in the ass it is. if you need someone to make sure gear doesn't get too dusty, feel free to call me!

That is a bummer. I would go nuts if I couldnt go shoot. I guess photography is more dangerous than I thought.

Hello Tim and friends! Thank you so much for all well wishes!!! I really appreciate it! I went this past weekend to Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin to look for Great Grey, Boreal, and Northern Hawk Owls. Well I found them thanks for the help of Mike Lentz! Unfortunately in Sax-Zim Bog and surrounding areas, the temperature was about oh.. -21 degrees average with a high of -2 often

This lead to severe numbness at the extremities being from California where I shoot with flip fops 80% of the time, I was not quite prepared for it. Anyway, I was walking in some deep snow through the forest and didn't notice the ground beneath the snow was sloping down. I planted my foot under a log that I didn't see and by the time I fell, my right foot was 180 degrees counter clockwise behind me. The doctor says when the swelling goes down they will operate and put a few screws to fix me up

I will be laid up for the next 6 weeks. So if you are so inclined, I am taking donations for RAW files you don't have time to process! I'm out of material and need something to occupy my time!

Hey Conrad...
Sorry to hear that our fair state led to a nasty fall... no doubt it was due to an icy pursuit of an owl of some sort. Next time you're in my neck of the woods let me know and I'll offer some tips for safe winter photography and share some of my secret locations...

I was picturing you lying there and it is a very scary thought. Good idea to always travel with an ICU nurse

Your spirits are amazingly high (as is your head on all the painkillers

) and I know that you will be back in the saddle sooner than later. But over the next six weeks we will see arguably every shot you've taken in the last year...good for us!
Good luck with your surgery and I expect you to post xrays of the leg...an FM first!
