Threw a little curves to try & enhance the shadows a touch in addition to the obvious rotation.

Curious @ thoughts regarding the perceived change in lighting orientation via the rotation.

What was your goal?
I find the orientation a bit harder to relate to, but that may be in part because I know the original orientation and context.

Generally speaking, I identify texture with side lighting. The lighting on the original is more from the top. It is "raking" to reveal the texture, but the overall vibe for me was that top lighting equates to mid-day. I was just curious if the re-orientation had any more "reveal" to it if it appeared to be coming from the side.

Given that it is an abstract without any real orientation clues, I was just curious how it would look with the rotation for more of a side lighting perspective/perception. Not meant to suggest better ... just curious @ hmmm.

Knot as in not bad, as in ... good.

Perhaps a bit more contrast and sharpness might say "texture" a bit more strongly.
