Thank you, Sallie Jo, it's good to hear that their new foot suits you.
I am still soldiering on with the old low profile CP-61B.
However, I might give the new Jobu foot a try on 500 II. It looks a bit lower than the RRS foot which is on my 500 II now, but I can not find any dimensions for it.

I feel a bit like goldilocks with this plate is too tall and this plate is too close, but this one is pretty close for me.
Thanks for the update. I was giving Greg over on NS some time to release information on the two plates they are offering. Looks like the short one will not balance my kit and IMO the tall one is too close to the RRS in height...
Now I just need to decide if I should get the 4th gen or just stick with the monopod foot and p30 plate.
I haven't taken a good look at the NSN replacement feet because they are still discussing prototypes. However, they seem to be taking issue with the rigidity of the 4th Generation Designs feet, and to me that sounds like Cantonese.....i.e., I don't get it.
However, I can assure you that those 4th Generation Designs feet are significantly more rigid than my wrist, or my elbow, or my shoulder, all of which support heavy lenses.
I used the 4th Gen foot on the 600 II for the past 3 weeks in YNP. While it is a bit low to get my hand under for carrying the lens, I could do so by grabbing the foot itself without much difficulty. The lower profile preformed extremely well on my Wimberley. IMO, the 4th Gen foot is currently the best solution thus far. Let's see what NSN comes up with as a final product.

You've got it Pontiac. On my 800L the 4th Gen Design foot is an absolute perfection.

With my lady hand and no gloves I actually found the 4th generation a touch big so that is good feedback - were you wearing gloves and which variable hole are you using? Since I have smaller hands I guess I would like it if it was a touch lower so it would fit inside the hood easily. I was pleasantly surprised how stable it was since it was adjustable and so far this is a winner for me.
Peter - if the shim works let me know where I can get one! I am going to try to call John at 4th generation to see if they could make the stem on the CRX-5 shorter - with the adjustable plate if we had a choice in height I think they would have the perfect plate hands down that would fit just about any lens.

Is this that standard (i.e. not low profile) profile lens foot? Is so, what are the dimensions?
Al - Sorry 600mm is packed up since I am flying out to Bosque in a few hours, but now you can get the low profile foot with the CR--5 and it works great. I like mine.

Lucky you. I don't have all thumbs for fingers, so I should be able to maybe get my hand in there to carry the lens using the foot. I wish they documented the dimensions of these things, especially knowing there are questions just on that.

Sallie Jo, here is an update on the matter. John Zeiss initially said he might do the shim for me for next-to-nothing, and to call him back in a couple of weeks. Well, I called back, and called back again, and again, however, by that time it became obvious that they really didn't have the time to dedicated to such a small custom item. So nothing was done in that direction, and I've been making do with the way the stock foot is, a bit snug around my fingers, but it works OK.
Thanks, Peter.
I have to order it before she concludes investigation. She is just on the phone talking to the bank manager what happened to our account.
