Same fps
Same 1.6x

Better ISO performance by 2 stops
Same focus as 5diii
Dual CF slots - hate those SD's
Leave the buttons where they are - I hate the magnification button on my 5diii - hard to find in the dark
GPS ability
No flip screen - its a wildlife/action camera
And it would conquere the earth (or Nikon anyway).
This is the only way to really improve high ISO, low light noise, other than small increments.
5D3 noise performance would require a drop to 8.5MP.
I know it will never happen so I would prefer they stay at 18MP so that sensor improvements would improve the quality. In other words, don't eat up sensor gains with more and therefore smaller(more) pixels.
7D II must have cleaner files noise wise
otherwise it is not worth it to me.
I get clean images out of the 5D III in the same circumstances the 7D was noisy
the 400mm F5.6 is shorter on the 5D III, only 400mm field of view (no cropping as 7D does)
however, even with 1.4X TC the 5D III files are cleaner, especially in higher ISO shooting
the more pixels on the bird would be desirable in 7D II if the files are cleaner

not if you already needed the TC with the 7D
which actually seems to be almost always for me at least (even 2x)
Which brings us back to pixel density/reach. And to the fact that sensors are pretty much fixed at a certain efficiency no matter how many pixels we chop them up into.

With the 1.4 tc on a 5d3 you've got about twice the surface area of sensor over the 7d...
I most sincerely hope my 5D3 is my 7D2!

Just for a fun discussion, so please don't take it too seriously.
I have heard rumors about the specifications, but nothing is solid at this point. This year seems like the year that Canon should release at least one new APS-C DSLR to replace 7D, 60D or both.
If one is indeed released, what specs would you like to see the most? I currently own a 5D3 and a 6D, but I also keep a 7D for telephoto shootings. I'd be interested in the new 7D Mark II if it gets the following updates:
1. Improved sensor performance -- Obviously, better noise performance and possibly better DR. 2. AF Capability with Lens at f/8 -- That would be perfect for my use. I can then use a 1.4x with 100-400L or the like. 3. Silent Shutter Mode -- I find the silent mode of the 5D3 and 6D to be very useful and I hope the new 7D Mark II has this feature as well.
I'd take something else too, but those are my top 3. Something else is worth being mentioned though:
- AF Microadjustment at Wide & Tele Ends -- This should be a new standard though.
- Improved AF System -- Not saying the current 7D AF system is bad, but I sure hope Canon steps forward with it.
- LP-E6 Battery Pack -- Currently own 5 of these. Still want the compatibility.
- Built-in Flash -- Wifi and GPS are fun and all, but I find that built-in flash is useful in some occasions. Don't want them to get rid of it.
- Resolution -- I don't really care much whether or not they increase it.
- Continuous Shooting Speed -- I can live with 8fps, but 10fps would be awesome.
- CF + SD Slots -- It would be nice, but definitely not gonna be a deal breaker for me.
It’s said to be an incremental upgrade from the 60D. Although, we’ve heard that wifi and gps will be added to the xxD line with the 70D.
The image sensor may remain at 18mp as Canon separates the 7D Mark II with a new, higher performing APS-C sensor. This makes a lot of sense as I think the APS-C segment needs a jolt and not more of the same.
It sounds to me like Canon wants to keep both lines going. So, they'll once again cripple the specs of xxD to separate it from the new 7D Mark II. Kinda what I expected.

I seriously doubt that Canon will use the 7D2 as the body to introduce it's latest sensor technology. That will probably come on the FF high MP body.
So far Canon has introduced new sensor tech (almost) simultaneously on 1.3x and 1.6x sensors:
1DII + 20D, 1DIII + 40D, 1DIV + 7D.
With the 1.3x format gone, Canon will most likely introduce the next generation tech (almost) simultaneously on the high-MP body + 7DII.

Hardly going to be a jolt if it's the same ol' 18MP sensor and just adds wifi and gps. Already talk evaporated of it getting the 7D AF. That should be a given, as Canon's current AF offerings on anything below the 7D is crap. In fact even the rebels should get the current 7D AF.
