actually both are possible replacements for current CF as they are both controlled by the CF steering folks. CFast has been around for a few years now and is pretty much limited currently to UDMA 6 functionality/speed. they are putting effort into CFast II as we speak. but it is as of now under development. it is currently SATA based. XQD is here and is currently a PCIe based system and golly gee they too are in process of adding the II to their names too.
so in reality they both are considered the be part of the CF family and both are options to be a possible replacement for the traditional CF replacement. twin sons of different mothers
