Maybe stretching the assignment a bit.. but technically this is lit from behind as. Painting with light and orbing..in one long exposure.. Light is pointed toward camera = backlit??
Orbs .. basically a torch on end of a rope swung carefully in same arc (not easy) whilst you rotate around a fixed spot.. Shutter kept open during this time .. helps to have darkness (very little ambient) . Once the Orb is done we quickly drew a bird with another torch as painting with light.
Practice...practice and practice..

Excellent H. The orb does take a little practice but is loads of fun to do. I love the drawing "inside" which obviously requires artistic ability and a steady hand.
