Also great for landscapes (last image, I promise!). The 120-300's corner sharpness is excellent when you are out a bit past the minimum focusing distance. Up super close the corners aren't perfect (which is why you can see some corner softness in the-digital-picture crops, that doesn't match up to the Sigma MTFs for the lens). At infinity the corners are flawless, they are good even at 2.8... I'd say 120mm is the weaker end, some minor CA on that end, 300mm is basically entirely free from both types of CA...Anyway, here's a landscape, taken while out fishing in our secret spot last summer...haha... ;-)
I horsed around with one for awhile This lil gal meets with movie producers this morning (double)
Scouts saw me shootin' the event...viewed the pics and offered her a gig in a western. I'll no doubt get
the new one as I love the feel/range of this zoom. Fingers crossed on AF improvements.
Dooooo it, make sure to get the Sig 1.4x tc while you are at it...and try the 2x...I know, I know...but trust me...give it a try. ^_^ /whistles innocently.

Apparently its optically identical to the old version, so I wouldn't expect anything radical. The old one was pretty decent though!
I think someone said that about the 150 OS when it came out too. well it was "slightly" different and "slightly" better too. enough for me to replace my original.
I'm glad they're moving away from the textured rubberized coating. It's a minor point, but it's really the only complaint I have about my Sigma 300 f/2.8... not sure why they went with such a dust-loving coating that scratches so easily in the first place.
