I have to say, I didi a lot of pic peeping and I chose the Nifty fifty instead. I went through the sample threads with both at PoTN and to me, page for page, pic for pic, the Nifty fifty thread had sharper images with much more vivid colors and a 3dish look, very clear. It's faster, and sharpens up very well at 2.0 to 2.2, cheaper (basically disposable). Yeah, I realize this has the metal mount, probably focuses faster, (though I have heard some say not much faster).
But for me, image quality trumps all, and I went through both of those threads until my eyes were about to fall out, and I gave the upper hand to the nifty fifty for IQ. Something about the contrast or something that I don't like about this lens, like the pics are foggy or something, the colors subdued, and I thought the Nifty Fifty pics just had a more clear, 3dish look overall with more vivid colors. I could have purchased either one, but I went with the Nifty for these reasons, it was close, but just check the sample threads out.
