Yes, that too will increase the need for higher transfer rates.
Either CFast or XQD is fine with me, but I'm not doing both and also CF and SD for other bodies.

Ideally there would be a mini/micro XQD or CFast for small devices, be SDxx is too firmly entrenched.

yes, if there were only one to rule them all.

really 2 XQDs on the D4 would not have bothered me at all.

you'd need CFast II due to the limits of CFast.
